What Are Facial Fillers?

Facial fillers are injectable gels, most commonly composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), that are used to restore volume, enhance facial contours, and improve facial balance without surgery.

How Do Hyaluronic Acid Fillers Work?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body that binds water and provides structural support to the skin. When strategically injected, HA fillers restore lost volume, improve contour definition, and create smoother facial transitions while maintaining natural facial movement.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

Facial fillers may be used in various areas, including the forehead, nose, chin, lips, temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and areas of volume loss. Each treatment area requires different levels of support, flexibility, and projection, making product selection an important part of treatment planning.

How Is the Appropriate Filler Selected?

Rather than simply choosing between Korean or imported fillers, the optimal filler is selected according to its rheological properties—including firmness, elasticity, cohesivity, and lifting capacity—as well as the treatment area and desired aesthetic outcome. Various HA fillers, including Belotero®, Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and premium Korean fillers, are available.

The Importance of Facial Harmony

Successful filler treatment is not determined by the amount of filler injected. Natural-looking results depend on careful assessment of facial proportions, symmetry, tissue thickness, facial movement, and age-related volume changes. Treatment is individualized to preserve facial balance rather than simply adding volume.

Facial fillers are injectable gels, most commonly composed of hyaluronic acid, that are used to restore facial volume, improve contour definition, and enhance facial harmony without surgery.

02

Which areas can be treated with fillers?

Fillers may be used in the forehead, nose, chin, cheeks, temples, lips, nasolabial folds, and other areas with volume loss. The treatment plan varies according to facial anatomy and individual aesthetic goals.

03

What is the difference between Korean and imported fillers?

The choice of filler is based less on the country of manufacture and more on each product's rheological properties, intended treatment area, and desired clinical outcome. Your medical provider will recommend the most appropriate filler for your individual needs.

04

How long do filler results last?

Longevity varies depending on the specific filler used, the treatment area, metabolism, and individual lifestyle factors. Most hyaluronic acid fillers generally last between 12 and 24 months.

Can I return to normal activities immediately after treatment?

Most patients can resume normal daily activities on the same day. Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, or mild asymmetry may occur during the early healing period.

06

Can hyaluronic acid fillers be dissolved?

Yes. If medically appropriate, hyaluronic acid fillers can be partially or completely dissolved using hyaluronidase. This should only be performed after evaluation by a qualified medical professional.

Avoid alcohol consumption and smoking for approximately 2–3 days after treatment whenever possible.
Avoid pressing, rubbing, or massaging the treated area unless specifically instructed by your medical provider.
