What Is Body Toning?

Body Toning is a laser treatment designed to improve uneven pigmentation that develops in body areas prone to friction, shaving, hair removal, hormonal influences, or post-inflammatory pigmentation. The treatment aims to gradually create a brighter and more even-looking skin tone.

How Does the Treatment Work?

The Piccolo Premium picosecond laser delivers ultra-short laser pulses that primarily create a photoacoustic effect, fragmenting melanin into microscopic particles while minimizing unnecessary thermal injury to surrounding tissue. The fragmented pigment is gradually cleared through the body's natural metabolic processes.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

Common treatment areas include the underarms, elbows, knees, ankles, areolae, and the Brazilian area. Treatment parameters are adjusted according to the thickness, pigmentation, and sensitivity of each anatomical site.

Why Are Multiple Sessions Recommended?

Body pigmentation often develops gradually over time and may be located at different depths within the skin. A series of treatments allows pigment to be addressed progressively while reducing the risk of excessive irritation.

Can Sensitive Areas Be Treated?

Yes. Sensitive areas such as the areolae and Brazilian region require individualized laser settings based on skin thickness, pigmentation, and sensitivity. Treatment should always be performed after an appropriate medical assessment.

Why Is an Individual Assessment Important?

Body pigmentation may result from chronic friction, hormonal changes, inflammation, shaving, laser hair removal, or other causes. Identifying the underlying cause helps determine whether laser treatment alone is appropriate or whether preventive skin care and lifestyle modifications should also be recommended.

FAQ

01

Which body areas can be treated?

Body Pigmentation Toning may be performed on the underarms, elbows, knees, ankles, areolae, Brazilian area, and other body regions affected by uneven pigmentation. Suitability depends on the location, skin type, and cause of pigmentation.

02

How many treatments are recommended?

The recommended number depends on the severity and depth of pigmentation. A series of approximately five to ten sessions at intervals of two to four weeks is commonly recommended.

03

Can the areola and Brazilian area be treated safely?

Yes. These areas require lower treatment energies and individualized laser settings because the skin is more delicate and sensitive. Your medical provider will determine the most appropriate treatment protocol.

04

When will I notice improvement?

Results develop gradually as fragmented pigment is naturally cleared from the skin. The timing and degree of improvement vary depending on the cause and depth of pigmentation, individual skin characteristics, and the number of treatment sessions.

05

Can I return to normal activities after treatment?

Most patients can resume normal daily activities on the same day. However, friction, tight clothing, and activities that repeatedly irritate the treated area should be minimized for several days.

Precautions

Temporary redness, warmth, mild swelling, or tenderness may occur after treatment and generally improves within several hours to approximately one to two days.
Avoid excessive friction, rubbing, shaving, waxing, or other forms of mechanical irritation on the treated area until the skin has recovered.
Keep the treated area well moisturized and use broad-spectrum sunscreen on sun-exposed body areas to help reduce the risk of recurrent pigmentation.
Avoid scrubs, exfoliating acids, retinoids, and other irritating skincare products on the treated area for approximately one week.
Wear loose-fitting clothing when treating friction-prone areas such as the underarms or Brazilian region whenever possible during the early recovery period.
Contact your medical provider if severe pain, blistering, prolonged redness, drainage, or other unusual symptoms develop.
